Considerations when establishing your budget for 3D Printing technology in your business.

Establishing a correct budget for a piece of equipment that will meet your expectations is one of the most important aspects of shopping for 3D Printers. I am going to discuss two main considerations about your budget.
The first consideration is that there are multiple machines that may seem similar, however in reality they feature extensive differences. Let us compare the Makerbot and a Fortus machine from Stratasys. Both machines are material extrusion technology. The Fortus machines can be more than ten times the price of the Makerbot. The reality is that the part quality, material possibilities, part consistency, speed, and reliability are all factors in the price difference. The Fortus line of printers are professional machines that are made to keep up with the demands of manufacturing. The Makerbot is made for consumers. These machines are just one comparison of many. Make sure that you are getting the machine that will meet your expectations.
The second consideration is the secondary budget requirements for implementing a 3D Printer into your process. I will refer to these secondary requirements as input and output. Your input consists of creating the perfect 3D CAD file to be printed on your machine as well as any software required to process those files. Do you need NX CAD or Solid Edge for your application? Do you need Magics in order to fix the files for printing?
Your output secondary requirement is labor for post processing and finishing the parts once they come off of the machine. Also your output could require a lab and machines to assist in the post processing procedure.
As you can see there are multiple considerations when establishing a budget for the 3D Printing needs of your organization.
